FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Courthouse will remain closed Friday tomorrow after an electrical issue Thursday morning forced a closure and evacuation.

"One of the two busways that feed commercial power throughout the building failed and caused damage to the section that feeds power to three of the six floors of the structure," Sally Shutt, the assistant county manager, said in a written statement.

Officials said repairs on the building's power will not be completed in time for the courthouse to open as normal on Friday.

All other buildings will operate on normal schedule, including the Law Enforcement Center. The county will provide updates on their website and social media pages.

If you were anticipating a Friday court date, the Clerk of Court will mail a new notice of hearing to the address on file.
