Cumberland County will begin mosquito control spraying Monday because of increased populations of mosquitoes caused by flooding from Hurricane Florence.

Trucks will spray a botanical product that officials say is effective for mosquito control from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday.

The spraying will be countywide but will not include the town of Hope Mills and Fort Bragg. The town of Hope Mills has conducted its own spraying.

The Cumberland County Health Department was out of mosquito dunks as of Friday morning. Mosquito dunks specifically target mosquito larvae before they hatch. A new shipment is expected on Monday.

Residents can call 910-433-3600 if they have questions or need more information.
