RALEIGH, N.C. — In the first eight days of November, Raleigh police recorded 21 reports of armed robberies. That is the highest total for the first eight days of any month in five years, according to WRAL Data Trackers.
Five of the 21 robberies took place on Monday, Nov. 8, when a string of armed robberies or attempted robberies was reported in areas around North Carolina State University between 5:15 and 11:15 p.m.

Police said they were not sure if the events were related but said most had things in common – including the description of the robber.

Jaronte Dayshawn Turner, 19, and a minor have not yet been charged with the robberies, but Turner was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of stolen goods.

Raleigh police Capt. Sean Hoolan said the suspects and the vehicle are connected to at least some of the 14 robberies reported in Raleigh over the last few days – but police are still working to determine which ones.
