Crews work to free driver after vehicle loses control on black ice, hits tree

One driver struck a patch of black ice on Forestville Road in Raleigh and crashed into a large pine tree.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Drivers are advised to take caution when driving on Saturday morning, when below-freezing road temperatures led to reports of black ice.

One driver struck a patch of black ice on Forestville Road in Raleigh and crashed into a large pine tree.

WRAL's Breaking News Tracker was there as firefighters removed the top of the car to get to the person inside.

A car skidded on black ice and crashed into a tree on Saturday morning.

Raleigh police closed Forestville Road for over two hours while the accident was investigated and cleaned up.

There have also been reports of black ice on East Garner Road. At least one of the spots has been sanded by the NC DOT.

No word yet on how serious the injuries are, but WRAL is on the scene and will provide updates as they come in.
