WILSON, N.C. — Officials have recovered the body of a man who drowned Wednesday in a Wilson lake.

The body of Jeremy M. Tyler, 32, was discovered on Saturday after a three-day search at Lake Wilson, located at 4621 Lake Wilson Road.

Officials say Tyler's body was found about 400 yards downstream from where he was last seen on Wednesday.

Witnesses at the lake told officials that Tyler went into the water around 4:15 p.m. and didn't return to land. An investigation determined that Tyler voluntarily went into the water and was overcome by the heavy current flowing from the dam.

Lake Wilson was closed to the public throughout the duration of the search but reopened on Saturday.
