Raleigh police said the gas leak was in the 8600 block of Six Forks Road. The street was closed between Featherstone Drive and Monument Lane.

A representative with Dominion Energy confirmed the leak but had no further details on what caused it. She said they were working to make the area safe and secure the damage.

Police were directing traffic around the area. The leak was secured around 6:30 p.m. Two lanes of traffic were reopened after the repair.
