PITTSBORO, N.C. — On Thursday morning, crews found the body of a teenager who went missing Tuesday at Jordan Lake.

Search and rescue crews resumed the multi-day search at 8 a.m. Thursday near the lake's shorelines. Around 11 a.m., crews found the body of Roberto Deleto. The 15-year-old boy had been missing since Tuesday.

Deleto disappeared Tuesday evening while riding a personal watercraft with a family member. When Deleto's watercraft had a mechanical issue, the family member rode for help. When he returned, Deleto was nowhere to be found.

According to Ricardo Correa, the family's pastor, the sheriff's office found Deleto's watercraft along the shore Wednesday morning alongside an empty life jacket.

Just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, the family released a photo of Deleto and asked that anyone who has seen him contact authorities. Searches were paused at nightfall on Wednesday.

Emergency crews in Chatham County are searching for 15-year-old missing teenage boy at Jordan Lake on Wednesday.

At the time, Correa said they had not given up hope. Crews had found Deleto's life-jacket and personal watercraft along the shoreline.

"I do have confidence that he knew what he was doing with a Jet Ski. (He was a good) swimmer as well," Correa said.

Emergency crews from agencies across Chatham County joined the search for the teen, in the water, on land and from the air. Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson said a dive team joined the search on Wednesday afternoon.

"I'll probably weep with them, or I will cry as well with them, but I'll be here for them," said Correa.

Thursday night at 6 p.m., a vigil for Deleto was hosted at Carrboro High School, according to an email from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. The event included a potluck.

"Roberto particularly liked homemade mac and cheese," said the email.

The school's Student Services team, along with School Support and Wellness personnel are offering support to students and staff.

A GoFundMe was set up for the Deleto's family.
