CLAYTON, N.C. — A three-vehicle accident didn't result in any injuries but caused officials to temporarily shut down part of NC 42 East in Clayton on Wednesday.

The Clayton Fire Department said in a Facebook post the crash forced NC Department of Transportation officials to have to inspect a bridge damaged in the process. Repairs were needed, which means the bridge would be closed until sometime after midnight or early Thursday.

The bridge was built in 1939.
