Crews are working to repair power lines taken down by a car crash overnight in downtown Raleigh.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker arrived at the closed intersection of South Blount Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just after 2 a.m.

A car at the scene appeared to have flipped upside-down and was lying on its hood next to a downed power pole.

Five hours later, crews were still working on the damage – and the intersection is closed to traffic.

Officials say there were no serious injuries.

The person behind the wheel was charged with driving impaired.
