WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — One lane of Interstate 40 East was closed near Clayton Bypass after a crash in eastern Wake County on Friday morning.

The crash closed one of two eastbound lanes close to Mile Marker 309 as the holiday travel weekend begins. The lane has since reopened.

The wreck appeared to involve a U-Haul trailer that was crashed into. Traffic was starting to move through again as of 5:30.

There was no word on what caused the crash. The driver of the truck hauling the trailer told WRAL he felt 'OK.'
