Troopers: Man hit, killed on I-540 was in road
A fatal crash involving a pedestrian closed Interstate 540 west in Morrisville near Interstate 40 on Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedThe crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. near Exit 1 for I-40, according to officials, causing significant delays.
Authorities said Ricky Lee Walker Jr., 30, of Hillsborough, had wrecked nearby where he was hit, but they are not sure why he was in the middle of the road.
Trooper Grey with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Walker was hit by one car on the northbound side of the highway, and three cars on the southbound side. Everyone who hit Walker stopped, Grey said.
No charges will be filed.
