RALEIGH, N.C. — A single-vehicle crash brought down a power pole in southeast Raleigh on Tuesday morning.

A van ran off the road at South New Hope Road and Old Poole Road and hit the power pole before going into a wooded area around 4 a.m., police said.

The driver of the van told police he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle.

The driver was not injured and does not face charges.

Duke Energy crews spent the early morning replacing the pole.

South New Hope Road between Poole Road and Old Poole Road had been closed during the repairs.
