Hillsborough, N.C. — After 25 years, Maple View Farm ice cream will stop its on-site milk production.
In an announcement on Facebook, owners said the cows are "going to a good home" and milk will be delivered to Maple View from Simply Natural Creamery of Ayden.
According to owners, Simply Natural will provide the ice cream base and Maple View will make ice cream on-site in Hillsborough.
Simply Natural will also provide milk, butter and cream, which can be purchased at the Maple View Farm country store.
"We selected Simply Natural because they use the butterfat content and natural products that are critical to high quality ice cream," the post read. "Their dairy products are remarkably like Maple View."
The farm has been operating in North Carolina since the 1960s.
Maple View Farm has a recycling program where customers can turn in glass milk bottles for deposit refunds. The farm asks that customers looking for a refund return their milk bottles to the farm by Sept. 20.
