Couple Charged in Rash of Car Break-Ins
A local couple has been arrested in connection with a string of vehicles broken into across Sanford, police said Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedJames Polito, 23, of 401 Oakwood Ave., and Justine Murphy, 21, of 215 S. Fourth St., were each charged with 38 counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, 39 counts of larceny, 39 counts of possession of stolen goods, two counts of breaking and entering of a coin-operated machine, one count of felony larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen goods.
Polito was released from the Lee County Jail in January, and the break-ins started shortly after that, said Capt. David Smith, of the Sanford Police Department.
Polito was being held in the jail on a $96,000 secured bond, and Murphy was being held on a $39,000 secured bond.
