FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County deputies seized an undisclosed amount of counterfeit money during a Thursday traffic stop on Interstate 95, authorities said Friday.

Deputies stopped a speeding 2014 Nissan Versa on southbound I-95 and asked for consent to search the vehicle because of suspicions of criminal activity, authorities said.

In the glove compartment, deputies found a wallet with some counterfeit cash, and they then found a suitcase with more bogus bills in the trunk.

Darryl Halifax, 20, no address provided, was charged with possession of counterfeit instruments and was being held Friday in the Cumberland County jail under a $15,000 bond.
