Posted — UpdatedThe YMCA of the Triangle will open several outdoor pools on Friday.
The pools will be required to follow strict guidelines as part of Gov. Roy Cooper's executive order.
All lifeguards and staff will wear face masks and count each person who enters the pool area to make sure the space stays at 50% capacity.
Staff will also space out deck chairs to socially distance members and will ask people to wipe down their own chair before and after use.
People who want to swim laps or use lanes for water fitness will need to make reservations.
The YMCA asks members to be patient with the changes so pool season can be as safe as possible.
“Just come be prepared and give us grace, as we are implementing a lot of new procedures," said Susan Pettengill. "Please do limit your time to two hours so we can serve as many families as possible, and please don’t come to the pool if you have a fever or someone in your family is not well.”
