RALEIGH, N.C. — Keeping your kids active and off electronics is not easy, even on a good day. Am I right?!?!? Add a stay-at-home order, and all bets are off. One way to get your kids away from the screen is to invite them into the kitchen to make something that they enjoy. My son Reed has a bit of a sweet tooth, and he loves a good sweet tea. This recipe is as good as Bojangles! Now I just need to teach him to make me a chicken biscuit!
Recipe:
- 6 (family size) or 12 (regular) tea bags
- 4 cups of boiling water/plus 1 cup for sugar mixture
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 fresh lemon
1. Boil four cups of water. Add tea bags and steep for five minutes. Remove the tea bags. Once the tea is cool, pour tea into a pitcher.
2. In a small sauce pan, combine one cup of cold water. Bring to a boil. Add one cup of sugar and stir until the sugar completely dissolves (about five minutes). Pour the sugar mixture into the tea. Squeeze in some lemon juice, and enjoy! If you want to get really fancy - add some fresh mint!
Cheers!
