Whole Foods in Chapel Hill has confirmed cases of COVID-19
At least one employee at the Whole Foods in Chapel Hill has tested positive for COVID-19.
Posted — UpdatedWhile out of respect for the privacy of the employees and their families, the spokesperson said he couldn't share information about the employees.
"I can confirm that team members in our Chapel Hill store have tested positive," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the store has performed a professional deep cleaning and disinfection on top of their current enhanced sanitation measures.
Several of the customers who spoke to WRAL said they feel the store is doing their best under the circumstances but they wish they would have know about the positive cases.
“If I knew I wouldn’t have gone in to the store,” said Aurelia Gross.
For some this hits close to home.
“My uncle recently passed away from COVID-19 in New York,” Gross said.
After the sudden loss, she said she’s doing anything and everything to keep the virus away.
“Yes, because it hits so close to home," Gross said. "I’m making sure that I’m taking any kind of measures and even at work and everything like that,” Gross said.
Gui Dear, who works at a hospital, said the store is doing a good job of making sure everything is cleaned and sanitized after every use, giving him some peace of mind during his visit.
“When I arrived, I was handed some wipes to wipe down my cart, so I was quite impressed with the care and attention they’re paying,” Dear said.
Whole Foods has not said exactly how many employees tested positive or when they last came to work.
