Apex, N.C. — A Wake County Public School System part-time employee has died of COVID-19 complications, according to family members.
A spokesperson for the school district confirmed that Amy Desormeaux worked at Apex Friendship High School.
Desormeaux had not been on campus since March.
"She loved working with students and felt like it was important for them to feel loved," said her daughter, Olivia Desormeaux.
Olivia Desormeaux said family members did not know where Amy Desormeaux contracted the virus.
"Her and dad were staying home as much as possible and using masks when they had to go out," described Olivia Desormeaux.
"She always wanted to make sure people were taken care of, and cared so much about others," she added.
Desormeaux's family asks anyone who has stories of her to email to firstname.lastname@example.org
