<p>We're seeing disturbingly young people in the hospital. We're seeing pregnant women in the hospital who we could have protected not only themselves, but also their unborn baby and are not vaccinated. I'm getting severely severely ill. There are 127 people in the hospital in south Carolina with covid 19, according to dehecq, that's about 1.5% of all hospital patients. But the increasing prominence of the Delta covid 19 variant is concerning doctors. They fear that not only will more people be hospitalized with Covid 19 in the next few weeks Because of Delta, they will be getting sicker than before if they're not vaccinated. So, we know that our vaccines are very effective against even the delta variant. And while almost 50% of South Carolinians have had at least one shot of the vaccine in their arm, Traxler says that's not good enough. There are some studies that show that only having one out of the two doses supervisor or Madonna really may not be very protective. Dr. Albrecht says Delta is a combination of all the most harmful covid 19 mutations. But there is a war strain out there. What's known as Delta plus or a Y two K Y two adds to mutations that are both not making the virus more infectious but make it a get around vaccines and previous infection immunity better. It's only two more steps, I think, to really have a problem for the vaccine.</p>

Good evening. I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmuth in the WRL severe weather center with a look at how much rain we've had over the last two days, we've had some pockets of heavy rain anywhere from an inch to close to 2 to 3 inches in a few spots, anywhere that you see in those pinks and reds. That's where we've had some pretty significant rainfall. It will be quieter overnight tonight. And as we head into mostly cloudy overnight tonight, it will be mild with low temperatures near 60 degrees. And then tomorrow, if you need to get outside and get some things done, you want to exercise outside. It should be a good day to do that. Temperatures will be in the low to mid sixties in the morning. It's mostly cloudy at lunchtime. We're at 73 and then later in the afternoon, high temperatures will climb up to 79. So overall pretty nice day on Thursday, we don't really have to worry about any severe storms. We only have a 20% chance for rain Friday. It's a 30% chance for a stray storm in the afternoon, but a better chance for rain Friday night. Into Saturday, a 60% chance for rain. Saturday, still a 50% chance Sunday and a 30% chance for some rain on Monday. A look at future casts as we head through the day on Friday. That's when our rain chances will start to go up mainly the second half of the day. But a couple of storms will be possible during the afternoon as well, but it will be dry in the morning. But once we get to the afternoon, some hit and miss storms possible, those will continue through the evening. And then overnight Friday into Saturday, we'll have another round of showers and storms arrive. So planning out your weekend, scattered storms are looking pretty likely for Saturday. Our high gets up to 79 on Sunday. We'll still have some scattered storms. It's about a 50% chance for storms otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 77 degrees. So today was unsettled as we get into Thursday. It's quieter with a high of 79 a couple of spotty storms Friday afternoon and then a decent chance for rain Friday night into Saturday. Still some scattered storms Sunday, Monday. We'll have some light rain possible with a high of 77 and then it's dry Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the low to mid eighties.
