CARY, N.C. — A Cary YMCA part-time camp counselor tested positive for COVID-19.

YMCA Chief Experience Officer Tony Campione said parents of Taylor Family YMCA campers who were directly exposed were called, while the rest of campers were looped in through email.

More than 200 children attend the camp every weekday, according to Campione.

Health screenings, including symptom and temperature checks, each morning have resumed. Camp officials said they're also increasing cleaning any shared equipment and areas.

Deep cleaning of all camp facilities will continue, according to Campione.

Summer camps at the Taylor Family YMCA will continue until Aug. 20.

"With three weeks of summer camp left in the season, we remain confident in our ability to serve campers and families in our programs safely, and will continue to adjust as needed," said Campione.
