CARY, N.C. — As North Carolina expands the number of people eligible to get COVID-19 vaccine, the number of places it's available has grown too. Along with mass vaccination sites and county health departments, a number of smaller, more local pharmacies are lining up the shots.
Fabio and Sara Cezar got their vaccine at Bee Well Pharmacy in Cary.

“We have family far away, and we want to be able to travel without concern," Fabio Cezar said.

The trip to get that shot was a short one. Bee Well Pharmacy is just a five-minute walk from their front door.

“It was convenient," he said. "We thought, why not walk over and take the vaccine?"

In Wake County, more and more vaccines are being administered at smaller community providers.

Bee Well in Cary got 500 Moderna doses. It is distributing them without requiring an appointment. Ebhi Chauhan says the pharmacy is vaccinating between 70 and 100 people per day.

It is not unusual to see a small line just outside the door.

“It is a great satisfaction that you are a part of the community who is helping it out," Chauhan said.

Across the county, larger events, too, are taking place to keep up with demand.

At Shaw University, 400 single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines were administered Wednesday to students, faculty and staff.
