New Wegmans store in Cary on track to open in August but no Grand Opening events

Wegmans has announced that the new West Cary store is on track to open this year but because of the the coronavirus pandemic, you won't see any Grand Opening events.

Wegmans has announced that the three stores scheduled to open in the country in 2020, including one in West Cary, are on track to open this year. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, though, you won't see any Grand Opening events.

According to a statement from the company, "As we keep the safety of our employees and customers a top priority, we’ve had to rethink how we open these stores. While we love the excitement of opening morning, with customers anxiously awaiting to see their new Wegmans, we know this isn’t possible as the need to maintain social distancing remains. With that in mind, we will share a targeted timeframe that the store will open. We believe this will allow us to keep our employees and customers safe, and also give us flexibility to open our doors as soon as possible. "

The company also shared, "We look forward to meeting you in-person but will be limiting the number of customers in the store at any given time to ensure we are able to maintain safe social distancing. With these measures in place, we ask for your patience and understanding, as you may need to wait in line to enter the store."

The new Cary store will also open with online ordering via curbside pickup and delivery.

The West Cary location was scheduled to open on August 2 at 7 am, but with this new approach to store openings, that will likely change. As we get closer to the opening, Wegmans will offer more details on the targeted opening date.

The 103,000 square-foot Cary store is located on Davis Drive and Airport Boulevard in Wake county. It will include the company’s signature European open-air market look and feel and will include The Burger Bar, a family-friendly, casual restaurant counter that serves burgers, sandwiches, sides, and beer and wine by the glass.

The following Wegmans stores are scheduled to open in 2020:

West Cary, NC: Opening Early August

Davis Drive and Airport Boulevard in Wake County

Harrison, NY: Opening Fall

106-110 Corporate Park Drive in Westchester County

Tysons Corner, VA: Opening Late Fall

Capital Beltway and Route 123 in Fairfax County
