SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A free drive-thru COVID-19 testing site opens in Smithfield Tuesday morning.

The four-lane drive-thru testing site will open Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Brightleaf Flea Market at 2320 South Brightleaf Boulevard, located about 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh.

You don't have to be a Johnston County resident to get tested.

Tests are free with no appointments necessary. After Tuesday, the site will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a continuing partnership between OptumServe and the Johnston County Public Health Department.

The current testing site at the nearby Smithfield Men's Progressive Club will close to begin the transition to the new site.

Organizers said the turnaround time for test results is up to 48 hours.
