NC Zoo reopens, tickets must be purchased in advance
The North Carolina Zoo will reopen on June 15 after being closed since March.

New procedures will be in place to protect staff and visitors, including a capacity of 2,000 people . The biggest change will be a pre-ticketing system, where zoo visitors will have to purchase their tickets and reserve their space ahead of time. People will not be able to walk up and purchase tickets to the zoo.
The pre-arranged entry will allow zoo staff to stagger guests, keeping attendance reduced.
Guests will only be allowed to enter and exit the zoo the through North America section, and they will be encouraged to walk one-way through the zoo with the help of directional signs and ground decals.
Open-air trams will operate at half capacity, and service will be limited. Strollers, wheelchairs and electric convenience rentals are still available and will be sanitized between uses. There is limited availability, and they are rented on a first-come, first-served basis.
Zoo staff will clean and disinfect restrooms and frequently-touched surfaces multiple times throughout the day, and additional hand sanitizer stations have been placed throughout the park.
All indoor and enclosed habitats are closed, including Aviary, Desert, Streamside, Polar Bear Underwater Viewing and Ice Cave and Sea Birds exhibitions. Playgrounds and and seasonal attractions, including the Giraffe Deck, Air Hike, Treehouse Trek, Carousel and Butterfly Garden, are also closed.
Food stands will be to-go only. Guests can eat outdoors at the park but will be spaced 6 feet apart.
