NC State sees 10 percent increase in vaccinations, but still lags behind other Triangle universities
Two weeks after classes started at North Carolina State University, 28,290 out of 44,672 or 64.7 percent of students, faculty and staff have reported being fully vaccinated for coronavirus.
Posted — UpdatedOn Monday, a spokesman for Duke said the vaccination rate for students, faculty and staff was over 90 percent while UNC-Chapel Hill reported that 82 percent of faculty and staff were fully vaccinated and 88 percent of students have also received the vaccine.
At N.C. State, 21,515 students out of 33,243 have been vaccinated for the virus. The remaining unvaccinated students, faculty and staff have been assigned a day for weekly testing at one of seven location on the university's campus. Those who skip more than two test will face disciplinary action, according to university leaders.
Unvaccinated students at UNC-Chapel Hill are required to get tested for the virus twice a week for a virus.
Due to vaccines being required for faculty, staff and students at Duke, the university has an over 90 percent vaccination rate. Duke is one of the only major universities in the area to mandate vaccines, so far.
According to Duke Today, 19,905 faculty and staff and 15,309 students are fully vaccinated, and even more people are awaiting their second dose.
