NASHVILLE, N.C. — Nash County public schools will begin the year with online learning, the school board announced on Wednesday.

In a meeting held Wednesday night, members of the Nash Public School Board of Education met and approved a plan to reopen with online learning. In a press release from the school system, it states, "Under this plan, all students will experience fully-online instruction. Learning opportunities will happen remotely and will include recorded and live instructional sessions. Most of the instruction will be accessed through the use of a technology device."

The memo also states students will be provided with a "district-issued laptop to participate in remote learning."

The online instruction will begin Aug. 6 for the NRM Early College and CITI High. Online learning will begin Aug. 17 for all other public school students. The plan is to monitor the coronavirus situation before determining when to advance to a plan that allows for both online learning and classroom interaction.
