As of February 8, North Carolina has administered 1,259,124 vaccinations. Nearly one-quarter of those, or 307,467 to be precise, have been administered in the last week alone. In other words, each week, North Carolina is gaining efficiencies in its distribution and administration of COVID-19 vaccines.

While many have been vaccinated, many more continue to scan the news or query friends to find out how or where to register for an appointment. There is a new tool on the NC DHHS website that makes this easier. Here you can now search for vaccination sites by zip code.

Whereas a week ago, there was a relatively short list of places grouped by county one could call to set up an appointment or get on a waitlist, now one can view a map of all providers within a set distance. The user can then click on any marker and see the name, address, phone number and website of that provider. Often those providers provide a link for those eligible to easily put their name on the waitlist.

Two weeks ago, the four providers in the Wake County area that were taking names for their wait lists were UNC Rex, Wake Med, Duke Raleigh and the Wake County Human Services. Today, in addition to those four options, here are online sign-ups for these additional spots: Neighbor Health Clinic on Lake Boone Drive, UNC Family Medicine at Blue Ridge, UNC Family Medicine at Holly Springs Medical Office Building, UNC Family Medicine at Panther Creek and UNC Family Medicine at Wakefield.

This week, PNC Arena in Raleigh will be hosting two drive-thru, appointment-only mass vaccination events on February 11 and 13. Health care workers and people 65 and over who have already registered for the wait list will be invited to the drive-thru event.

Finally, starting this Friday, February 12, Walgreens will begin administering over 31,000 vaccines at 300 locations in North Carolina to seniors 65 and older, healthcare workers, and staff and residents of long-term care facilities.
