RALEIGH, N.C. — Do you want a haircut? Are you anxious to hit the gym?

If so, you're not alone. Several close-contact business owners are expecting long waits when North Carolina enters Phase 2 of reopening.

"We expect a lot of wait times, and there’s going to be a lot of demand, pent up demand for haircuts," said Matt Davis of the Mister Pompadour Barber Lounge

While many barbershops and salons have been closed since the end of March, if the state moves into Phase 2, Mister Pompadour Barber Lounge is ready to open June 1.

Sport Clips plans to open by next Sunday.

On Monday, a Sport Clips in South Carolina had a more than two-hour wait.

Matthew Lewis, the area developer for Sport Clips in Raleigh, encourages customers to check in online. "There will be a wait because we’re not going to able to cut at full strength," he said.

To increase social distancing, Lewis plans to have a maximum of four stylists in his stores even though there is usually room for eight.

Charlotte Cece, the general manager of Cyclebar Cycling Studio, said her normal cycling classes have a capacity for 45 bikes with riders one to two feet apart. Because of social distancing guidelines, she is readjusting. "When we open up, we expect to cap our class size at ten people and spaced out as much as possible, at least six feet," she said.

Cece also plans to hold fewer classes per day and set them at a 30-minute maximum when she used to offer 50-minute classes. "That also gives us 30 minutes to clean in between each class," she said.
