North Carolina adults can receive a free at-home coronavirus test and learn their results within 48 hours.

The state Department of Health announced that it has partnered with Labcorp to make sure everyone gets a test. A total of 35,000 at-home kits will be available to North Carolinians for free.

Parents or guardians of residents 18 or older can request a kit for their child.

The kit includes all test supplies like a nasal swab and sample container. The test is shipped to your address, and the cost of shipping is also free.

If you need a kit, you can request one through Labcorp's website. If you have difficulty doing that, try going in-person to these community centers:
  • Stevens Center, in Lee and Harnett counties
  • Haywood Vocational Opportunities Inc. in Haywood County
  • Martin Enterprises in Martin County
  • Disability Advocacy Center in Guilford, Alamance, Caswell, Randolph and Rockingham counties

More facilities are expected to have access to these kits in the next couple weeks.
