RALEIGH, N.C. — Organizers of La Fiesta del Pueblo have announced the annual outdoor festival will be virtual this year due to rapidly rising COVID-19 cases.

The event, usually held on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, will instead feature musicians and dancers on a Facebook Live presentation Sept. 19. The performers will be dancing from the comfort of their own homes, the festival said.

A drive-thru food truck festival and shopping event will be held Oct. 3, when Latin American food trucks and arts and crafts vendors will sell items that attendees can view, order and purchase from their vehicles.

La Fiesta del Pueblo is billed as the Triangle's largest Latin American festival. Organizers have seen the festival grow from around 3,000 people in 1994 to more than 20,000 people in most recent years.
