Hundreds exposed to COVID-19 at chiropractor
Nearly 300 patients who visited Chiro One Wellness last week, along with 14 workers, are being urged to quarantine immediately.
Cairo One wellness center in Salmon Creek closed after an employee tested positive for Cova 19. Even worse, that employees may have exposed hundreds of others to the virus. You know, my concern right now is not the consequences. My concern is protecting the public. According to Dr Alan Melnyk of Clark County Public Health, the contagious employees worked on September 8th, ninth, 10th and 11th. Dr. Melnick says up to 300 patients came through the chiropractic office over that four day span, more than a dozen other employees as well. All of them, Dr Melnick says, could have been exposed to Cove it as pp use, was inconsistent at best. Certainly, if they're symptomatic, they should get tested. But even if they're asymptomatic, you know, which means don't have symptoms. I should get tested because you could be contagious before you develop symptoms. And on def. Even if they test negative, they would still need to be quarantined for the full 14 days because they could develop, You know, they could become sick anytime within that 14 day period. As Dr Melnick alluded to the coronavirus, threat is not over in Oregon, OSHA continues to do what it can to slow the spread of cova. 19. The state agency recently issued more than $23,000 in fines to a restaurant in Salem and a pharmacy in Lake County. They both involved willful violations of of requirements for wearing face coverings. Um, making sure customers have faced face coverings. Andi also implementing physical distancing Aaron Corvin says the two businesses joined a growing list of businesses cited by OSHA for failing to protect workers from Cove. It I mean, what's the ultimate goal here? Um, the ultimate goal here is to protect worker health and, by extension, public health and public health is the concern back in southwest Washington, where additional resource is have been brought in to do contact. Tracing their goal is to track down the hundreds of people who may have been exposed to covitz at Cairo. One wellness center in Salmon Creek is that we need to be vigilant. We're still we're in the midst of a pandemic, and we need to, you know, we need to be following the appropriate ah guidelines to protect protect the public. All right, Dr. Melnick says he's not quite sure if what's happening at the chiropractic office rises to the level of citations and fines. But he says the Office of Labor and Industries in Washington state has been notified. I'm like better for KGW news.
