Three Harris Teeter employees who work in the Greensboro Distribution Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

It is not yet known exactly which specific stores receive stock from the Greensboro warehouse; however, there is only one other distribution center in the state--in Charlotte.

Many customers have already begun wearing masks and wiping down carts to protect them from the possible spread of COVID-19 from other customers.

Officials from Harris Teeter said they have worked closely with local and state regulatory agencies to follow all sanitation and cleaning procedures.

Harris Teeter has also taken steps in distribution centers and other facilities over the last several weeks to help prevent COVID-19 spread, such as:

  • Expanded emergency leave guidelines
  • Enhanced daily sanitation practices at all stores and distribution centers, including cleaning common touch-points
  • Bringing in third-party cleaning companies to handle disinfectant level cleaning.
  • Conducted temperature checks at the beginning of each shift at the Distribution Center.
  • Distributed over 200,000 protective masks and gloves
  • Placing signs at the distribution centers reminding employees about social distancing
