RALEIGH, N.C. — On Monday, mask requirements are being revamped in several businesses, including some grocery stores. After many places relaxed their policies months ago, it's again a good idea to grab a mask again if you're going out.

If you’ve ditched the mask in the past couple of months, here's what to know.

Starting today, some places are strongly encouraging wearing a mask, like Publix.

Wegmans, meanwhile, says that fully vaccinated customers and employees still not required to wear a mask, according to the messaging on its website.

There is no mask mandate in North Carolina. But the CDC is strongly encouraging masks indoors again with the spreading of the Delta variant.

Walmart and Sam’s Club reinstated their masks polices as well, requiring employees to wear one, and encouraging fully vaccinated people to mask up in counties with high transmission. Kroger, who operates Harris Teeter, is also strongly encouraging masks for all customers.

If you’re visiting a City of Raleigh or Wake County building, masks will be required again, starting Monday.

Other cities like Durham and Fayetteville are also requiring masks inside their buildings.

In regards to schools, state officials said last week that they would like to see masks remain in place at elementary and middle schools and for any unvaccinated high school students and staff.

Like businesses and universities, the state's counties and school districts will be able to set their own mask policies. Many local school districts, including Wake, Durham and Orange, currently have mask mandates in place, but Johnston County Schools went against state and national guidance and announced Thursday that masks will be optional.

Many health care facilities in the state are now requiring employees to be vaccinated.
