DURHAM, N.C. — Small businesses in Durham are getting expert help keeping their businesses running in a pandemic through a new program called Greenlight Durham.

The program provides coronavirus support to help keep local businesses open and safe.

Duke University, which has managed to remain open and functioning this semester, is sharing their best practices operating during a pandemic.

Duke helped to develop the Greenlight program which uses technology to help businesses monitor their employees for coronavirus symptoms, connect workers with testing and provide access to community services – including COVID-19 relief payments.

Small businesses in the area are grateful for the assistance in keeping their operations going.

"The hardest thing for us as restaurants is making sure that we keep control of the coronavirus," said the owner of the Beyu Caffe.

The program is funded with money from the CARES Act.
