Football coach fired after exposing players to COVID-19
Wisconsin football coach attended scrimmage and interacted with players while suffering COVID-19 symptoms, despite being told by doctors to stay at home.
it's it's alarming. I know appearance were really talking today. Went out quickly on Facebook. Practice continued Monday for younger players in the Colosseum gridiron program as news spread that a coach attended a co a scam Hartford scrimmage Saturday, knowing he had symptoms of Covad, 19 and after taking a test at his doctor's office Thursday was symptomatic at that time, so got tested. Washington County executive Josh Showman says it's unclear if the coach had received his positive test results before he went to the scrimmage, but adds, he certainly knew he was having symptoms, and when he was on the field Saturday, he was called by county contact tracers. During that conversation, Coach indicated he couldn't talk to our contact tracer at that time because he was at a youth scrimmage and he would call afterwards, the county execs says. Once the Gridiron Club was notified, they fired the coach and watched film of the scrimmage to see who he may have come into contact with contact tracers air getting lab results, which is one of the last steps in the process. So it's very likely he knew before that a parent whose child was in practice Monday, didn't want to go on camera, but said she felt safe sending her son to play. You know, we're trying to teach our kids that, you know, we really want to stay in school right now, and we need to do everything we could do to keep ourselves another safe. And being that this was an adult, it was shame on him. If you seek it all, just stay home in this pandemic. It's the easiest thing to do. The health department is suggesting that anyone who may have come into contact with this coach to be tested for Cove in 19. So far, they don't know of cases connected to this. But, they add, it could be a few more days before they know if the virus spread. Reporting in Key Watson Tom Durian TMJ four News
