Durham Farmer's Market reopens with face masks, long lines after 6 week closure

The Durham Farmer's Market reopened Saturday morning after six weeks of being closed due to the stay-at-home order. They had some new safety guidelines in place, and long lines of people came to shop, happy for the market's return.

DURHAM, N.C. — The popular Durham Farmer's Market reopened Saturday morning after six long weeks of closure due to the city's stay-at-home order. It's a small signal of life slowly returning to normal--but with a few extra safety guidelines attached.

People waited in long lines that stretched around the block, smiling and chatting behind face masks.

The Durham Farmer's Market had handwashing stations set up to help prevent spreading germs.

The market had several new rules in place, including social distancing guidelines and mask requirements. They also had hand washing stations set up to help prevent the spread of germs.

The Durham Farmer's Market wrote on social media, "We are excited to be back and safer than ever this Saturday!"

They said pre-orders and pre-pay were strongly encouraged.

They wrote, "We look forward to seeing you soon, from a 6’ distance of course!"
