Hello everyone. I'm meteorologist Mike Mays in the W R L Severe Weather center with our forecast update for this Wednesday night. 62 was our high this afternoon tonight, it is cooling down and by day break, we expect our lows to be in the mid to upper thirties. That means there's a potential for a live frost in some locations and this map indicates where there could be that frost threat. We see the blue and Chatham County orange and Alama counties, Person County over to Warren County and points northward, there could be some frost in the morning so you might want to protect your plants. Now, for all of us again, it would be mid to upper thirties to about 40 for the lows by eight AM 41 we will have a bright start which we didn't have this morning. Heavier jacket will probably be needed especially at the bus stop. 39 is our forecast low here in the Raleigh area by eight AM. We're at 41 mostly sunny by 10 AM with about 52 at that point and hour by hour. We expect it to be a milder afternoon but still cool. Our normal high is about 67. So we expect about 68 for the high for your Thursday 60 at lunchtime, 68 by four o'clock and tomorrow evening will cool down but not as cool as what we experienced this evening. So our forecast tomorrow a beautiful day, get outside and enjoy it. They will have a crisp feel because dew points will be in the thirties 59 at boon 68 here in Raleigh, 65 in Wilmington for the day on Friday, we're starting to transition. We have a cold front on the way. The winds really pick up southwest 15 to 20 MPH, gusting 30 to 35 20% chance for a Sprinkle. Most likely the rain wouldn't really get into the area until Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon. It's all gone. We expect a high of about 81 here in the triangle wind gusts on Saturday, 40 to 45 MPH. That's the potential. So be much more of a raucous wind and the rain chance should happen before lunch time and the rain moves out prior to perhaps lunch time. So our Greenville festival, 50% chance of rain in the morning with clouds later in the afternoon. It's partly to mostly sunny. 81. The high winds could gust 35 to 45 MPH. The front will bring in cooler, less humid air for Sunday, full sunshine. 68 the winds will be lighter. So tonight, it's the possibility of some light frost 35 at Roxboro, 38 at Wilson, 35 at Siler City. And then farther south, the sand hills have the possibility for a light frost 36 at Southern Pines, 35 at Sanford, 40 for Clinton and a beautiful afternoon tomorrow, it will be warmer than today. Mid sixties to about 70 with light winds. So we're not going to be talking about much of a windy day tomorrow, but the winds pick up Friday, Friday night and Saturday, the dur have their home opener Friday evening. I think it'll be ok. Just a 20% chance for a Sprinkle 30% Friday night. Saturday. The rain chances for the morning. Sunday afternoon looks pretty good. The high temperature is 68. Watch out for the wind over the course of Friday and Saturday, the Norfolk Tides come to town playing the Bulls, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it starts to warm back up. South Garner High School is hosting a press conference to name its next head football coach.

Coming out to this long awaited introduction. Um I know that it was a, it was a process, a very long process to finally get here. But I think it was a, it was a process that was much needed because we wanted to make sure that we've had that we found the right fit for South Guard football. And I think we have and I think that, you know, the future of South Corner football will be in very good hands in the coming years. And so with that being said, I will actually turn it over to our athletic director, Miss Mass. Good evening. Um A lot of you already know who I am. Um But those of you who have not met me, my name is Crystal Massenburg. I'm the fa director here at South Florida High School. Um This is my third year here um at South Garner. Um and South Garner um is my heart, is my home. So, um like Mr Fason said, we wanted to make sure that our next election going to be someone that was a perfect fit for South Garner, someone who could bring out that energy in our players someone who can get our players to the next level. Um And most importantly, someone who could mold our young men into grown men ready for the future, um and the community. So I'm pretty sure that we got it right. Um Coach Green began coaching in 2009 when he started grass roots football organization called the Durham Titans for eight years. He was active as the organization's president commissioner and the head coach to their oldest age groups. In 2013, he took the organization from a local recreation league to plan under the national umbrella of the American Youth football governing body. The Titans were the flagship A Y F organization in the triangle area. In 2014. Coach Green led the 14 and under Durn Titans to a national championship in Orlando, Florida with a perfect 16 and zero record in 2015 and 2016. Coach Green led the Titans back to Florida where they finished eight and fifth in the nation respectively after the 2016 season, coach Green dissolved the program and began coaching at Riverside High school in Durham for the 2017 season as the offensive line coach in that inaugural year, the Pirates produced the conference defensive player of the year. Chuck Manning North Carolina Central and who set a school record with 21 a half sacks in 2018. The Pirates celebrated their second conference title in school history with a 7 to 4 record while also repeating with the defensive player of the year, Dijon De Cruz, who is now at Western Carolina. In that same season, the Pirates had the state rushing leader in fo football D Anthony Brake, who is currently at Shaw University with 2,158 yards and 23 touchdowns while only giving up six sacks on the season. The 2019 season brought a different offensive attack where Pirates had Landon Sledge, a record holder and top 10 passer in the state with 3382 yards passing 42 touchdowns, 300 57 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Also, Devin Smith, who is currently at North Carolina Central University had a career year with 1281 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns which were both school records, which gave him enough to be named as the offensive player of the year in 2019. Green's online again, only gave up less than 10 sacks with only eight allowed for the season during the COVID season and fall of 2021. Coach Green moved to Vance County High School as an offensive coordinator during that season. Team finished second in the conference behind Southern Durn and averaged 30 points per game. The Vipers produced the conference lineman of the year and current E C U lineman Omari Allen. Coach Green returned back to Riverside for the 2022 season. As the assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator and O line coach, the Pirates improved from two and eight in 2021 to 6 to five and returned to the playoffs. I now introduce to you the head coach of South Florida High school football coach, Green Titan. How you doing? Tire? How you doing? I'm happy to be here. Um Thank you for uh Mr, thank you for coach Massenburg for selecting me. Uh I really appreciate the opportunity. Um Got a majority of my staff here. I appreciate you all here. Um I promise you this young man, you will be led by men that I trust. We're not just gonna preach family, we are family, his men over there have been at my wedding. They know my Children, they know my wife, so I don't preach it, we live it. So that's gonna trickle down from the top down to you guys. We're gonna bring the locker room together and we're gonna operate as one titan family understood. So some things, some core values um that we like to live by. So three PS everything you do do an approach with passion. You're gonna be excited about everything you do because we're gonna be excited about everything that we do. All right, we're gonna have poise, it's great to have passion. But if you have no control over that passion, you're gonna find yourself in trouble. So with that pause will become passion and next passion, poise and purpose. If you don't know why you're doing what you're doing, you'll fizzle out. You tap out, you look for a way out. You won't touch a line, you won't complete a block, you won't finish the run strong. You won't wrap up on the tackle, you won't keep your feet moving. You gotta know why you're doing it, who you're doing it for. All right, everybody has to have a destination when you get in the car, you know where you're going. That's the way, that's why you drive, how you drive, ok. Next, everything we do is gonna be with a level of drive. Drive, the deed stands for discipline. You gotta have that control. You're not gonna sacrifice the things that you want most in life for the things that are right in front of you. Right next is responsibility with accountability. You're talking about yourself with responsibility, you're taking care of the man next to you. So we got discipline, we got responsibility. Next, we got intensity. If you're gonna step on this football field in South Garner, you're gonna be intense. You're gonna have a level of edge with you. When you strike the ball carrier. When you're carrying the ball, when you're clearing the path, you're gonna have a level of intensity and that's also gonna carry over into these hallways, right? That GPA speaks just as loudly about you as your performance on that field. If you want to go to the level that you think you want to get to. And I say thank because a lot of people go and play college football and they find out really quick that they didn't have that purpose. That third P. So you gotta know why you're there and you gotta have that intensity. When you go the V and dr stand with vision, you gotta have, you gotta see a clear path. A cliche these days is trust the process, trust the process, but you have no idea what that process is. You're gonna struggle. One thing. My coaches and I are gonna do under the leadership of our principal and our athletic director, we're gonna lay the vision out for you, David. You gotta understand the, the standard. You're gonna go to class, you're gonna be on time. I'm already peeking in the power school. I wanna make sure that you guys know you're gonna be on time and you're gonna be present and you're gonna perform when you're in there because what you can do inside those classrooms and in these hallways and out in this community, you exemplify all of us. So what you do and how you carry yourself is extremely important. The last thing execution, one thing you have offensive coordinator, Corey Harrison say over and over and over execution is worship, execution is worship being able to do it one time is not special. Can you do it over and over and over again? Every single rep. Can you perform that execution when it's crunch time? Can you answer the call? Ok. Next thing I want to speak about is making a decision, make a decision. What do you want South Ghana to be? Because right now, I fear that South Guard is just a place, is just a building. We got to take South Ghana from being a place and turn it into a pedigree when we go out and we talk to these college coaches, when these college coaches come and see us, when we say South Ghana, what does it mean to the outside world 1st? It has to mean something to you. It has to be a pedigree. When you come from this place, it should mean something. If I stood up here and I had a maroon turn on with an H on it. And I said, I'm from Harvard. Everybody in this room knows what that means. If I had a crimson shirt on it, had an a on it. And I said, I'm from Alabama, that means something. What is S G gonna mean a year from now? Turn it from a place into a pedigree. Is that understood? Next thing after you make that decision, you gotta find a way as young men sitting in this crowd. And I see a lot of parents in here too as a grown man. That rite of passage to being a grown man is finding a way you all assume because you're teenagers and your kids, that your parents have all the answers and that we always know what we're doing. That is not true. You gotta find a way to get that 78-80. You gotta find a way to make that a passing grade to get that b up to a A that all comes from having that vision. Where do I want to get to? How can I get there are and lasting. The most important thing I started off with it. I don't preach family. I value family. We will be family and with family. I should be able to tell you when you're wrong. And as family, if I'm wrong, somebody's gonna tell me that I'm wrong and I have to accept that and I got to correct that you understand, collaboration is the way you succeed in this world. Nobody here did anything that they did on their own. So look to the man to the left and the right of you. That's who you're depending on. When you go home this evening, the people in that, in that house in those four walls, that's what you depend on these teachers in this building, whether you like the class or not, you're depending on that teacher to get you to where you say that you want to get to. We don't operate with rules on this team. We operate with expectations, expectations are things you can hold yourself to things you can hold me to as a teenager, when I heard rules, I wanted to break a rule, rules are made to be broken. Expectations were meant to be met. You understand that? So when I meet with you guys and you tell me where you wanna go and what you wanna do and how you wanna be, I'm gonna hold you to that cause that's the expectation you deviate from that expectation and we'll deal with it accordingly. You can be upset with me, you can be upset with the staff, but you said you wanted this. So we're gonna hold you to the line. We're gonna hold you to the standard and we're going to win games. We're going to take this place from being just a building to a pedigree. We're good on that. Appreciate y'all. Thank you. All right at this time, if I could have his coaching staff to join us on the stage again. Um Coach Green, we, me and Mr Fason and we did meet with some panel parents as well. We felt like um out of all of our candidates, we did have over 50 candidates to apply for this position. Um We felt like coach Green was what we needed as you just heard, um you know, expectations by having rules with expectations that it's gonna be a big part, um and being a family and holding everyone accountable in the hallways as well. So Miss Mass kind of lean back away. I'm gonna pass the torch to these guys, but I just wanted them to quickly introduce themselves um in their position. Um And then once they are done with that, we will do some photos and our meet and greet session will continue um, here at the auditorium. All right. So we'll start from closest all the way to the end. Uh Right here, we have coach Eli Sessions who's coming to us from Oxford Webb High school, former head coach. We're blessed to have him with us. He's gonna operate at the head coach level. All right. So wide receivers, he's gonna get up. He's gonna tell you that Hunters hunt hot is hot. The ball will be on time and that route is gonna be crispy right next. We'll have, uh, Coach Mag Wood. Coach Mad Wood, uh, was a former player to some of the coaches up here. Uh, went out to play college football the day he graduated. I sent him AD M on Instagram and I said, you're ready to pick the whistle up.
