It's getting easier for North Carolinians to be tested for coronavirus.

On Thursday, June 11, CVS opened 16 new drive-thru testing sites in North Carolina.

All sites provide self-swab tests to people who meet guidelines for the tests by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A CVS team member will observe the swab and make sure it is done correctly.

CVS already opened 55 drive-thru testing locations in North Carolina, including several in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill and Garner.

More than half of those tests were given to underserved communities.

Patients must be pre-screened online before they qualify to make an appointment. They'll pull up to the pharmacy drive-thru window at their scheduled time and will be given a self-test kit and instructions.

A staff member will watch people take the test to make sure it is taken accurately.

Test results will be delivered in three days, and any positive tests will be sent to the state as well.

People who want to be tested can visit the CVS website to see if they qualify for an appointment.
