Cumberland County Fair opens with COVID-19 precautions

The Cumberland County Fair is back in Fayetteville for the first time in two years, but organizers are taking extra precautions due to the Delta variant and a rise in coronavirus cases.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Fair is back for the first time in two years, but organizers are taking extra precautions due to the Delta variant and a rise in coronavirus cases.

The fair will run Friday, Sept. 3 until Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Crown Complex. Health care professionals will get in for free on the first day, and a vaccine clinic will be held each day on-site.

Face masks will be required for all indoor events held in the Crown Arena.

The fair will feature rides, food and musical stages with performances by Reflections II, Throwback Collaboration Band, Steel County Express, Rivermist, Darkhorse and more. There will also be a petting zoo, a toddler driving school, arts and crafts shows and vendors booths.

There will also be livestock shows and exhibits.

General admission is $8 per person (for adults and children ages 3 and up). Single ride tickets are $1.25, and unlimited ride wristbands are $25. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Crown Complex box office.

Special deals and days are as follows:

  • Sept. 3: Gates open at 5 p.m. Free admission for healthcare professionals. Children ages 3-12 get in for $5.
  • Sept. 4: Gates open at 1 p.m.
  • Sept. 5: Gates open at 1 p.m. Admission is free with six non-perishable food items (one ticket per six items).
  • Sept. 6: Gates open at 1 p.m. Pay $15 for admission and unlimited rides.
  • Sept. 7- 9: Gates open at 5 p.m. Pay $15 for admission and unlimited rides.
  • Sept. 10: Gates open at 5 p.m. Free admission for school personnel with valid ID.
  • Sept. 11: Gates open at 1 p.m. Free admission for military and first responders with valid ID.
  • Sept. 12: Gates open at 1 p.m.

The N.C. State Fair, which was also canceled in 2020, opens Oct. 14. Organizers are urging unvaccinated people to get their shots now so they can be vaccinated before the fair.
