The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service defines an outbreak at a long-term care facility as two or more positive cases of the virus.
“Because of the virus’ ability to spread quickly, people in co-living environments are at an increased risk of contracting COVID-19,” said Wake County EMS Director. “We are talking with the facility’s medical staff to answer their questions and provide guidance to protect their residents and staff.”
Coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to rise in North Carolina. On Sunday, the state reported 1,443 new cases of coronavirus out of the 15,440 new tests were conducted in the past 24-hours.
In Wake County, more than 3,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus.
Nearly 800 people are hospitalized with the coronavirus and the state's virus death toll has reached 1,164 people.
