Coronavirus hospitalizations top 900 in NC
There were 915 people in hospitals across North Carolina with the coronavirus Tuesday, a record and the first time that number has been higher than 900. Across the state, 91% of hospitals provided coronavirus case data Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedHospitalizations have been trending up, while the rate of new cases and deaths reported each day have remained relatively flat over the past week.
Because state guidance has limited the number of people tested to those with symptoms, those in high-risk positions like medical or correctional facilities, those with a known exposure and, more recently, those who have been in a crowd, the true spread of the virus is impossible to measure.
Many people who contract the coronavirus show no symptoms. Others suffer what feels like a wicked case of the flu. But as of Tuesday, for 1,294 people in North Carolina, the coronavirus has been fatal.
Almost 37,000 people who tested positive have been reported to have recovered.
