One month ago, Appalachian State University was mourning the death of a student linked to COVID-19, and positive cases were rising, hitting 223 on Oct. 3.
After the death of Chad Dorrill, a 19-year-old from the Triad, the university cracked down on restrictions and put out a plea to students to follow all the CDC rules.
Student Grace Mazzuco said she has noticed fewer parties and those that have happened had people wearing masks and social distancing.
Many classes have transitioned to 100% online and will end with Thanksgiving break. Final exams will also be online.
