CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carowinds amusement park will open in November for a holiday-themed event, the venue announced Wednesday.

Carowinds Taste of the Season: An Outdoor Holiday Experience will feature dozens of sweet and savory tastings, festive themed areas, live shows and popular rides throughout the park. The event will run on select dates between Nov. 21 and Dec. 20.

This will be the first time the park has opened this year. It was set to open for the season on March 21 but was delayed due to a statewide stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus. In response to the pandemic, the park announced in August that it canceled its Halloween and WinterFest events. At the time, the venue said it would not reopen in 2020.

When the park reopens for its Taste of the Season: An Outdoor Holiday Experience, reservations will be required in advance for all guests. Passholders can make reservations starting Nov. 9. Single-day tickets will be available starting Nov. 11. All guests need to complete an online health screening declaration 24 hours prior to admission.

Upon arrival, all guests and associates will undergo a touchless temperature screening prior to entering the facility. All guests, associates and vendors are required to wear face coverings that cover the nose and mouth. Face coverings may not have exhalation valves or vents.

The park has also added social distancing markers throughout the venue and hand sanitation stations. The staff will also be doing additional deep cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, dining facilities and other busy areas.

“The safety of our guests and associates is always our top priority and our guests can be confident they can visit Carowinds and have fun safely,” Carowinds vice president and general manager Pat Jones said. "Our health and safety protocols align with CDC guidance and we incorporated information from company and industry health and safety experts, along with our state and local government officials. We couldn’t be more ready and excited to welcome guests back to the park for this wonderful holiday celebration.”

Details about rides, activities, entertainment and menu options will be released on Nov. 9.
