CARY, N.C. — The Buffaloe Lanes bowling alley in Cary re-opened recently with a new normal in the form of social distancing and cleanliness guidelines.

The alley was one of a group of businesses to sue Governor Roy Cooper for the right to re-open. A judge ruled in their favor last week.

"I feel excited to enjoy family time, and also I feel safe," said bowler Freddy Santana. "I think the employees are doing a great job to make us feel secure about the virus and everything."

The bowling alley is blocking off every other line in an effort to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Plexiglass has been installed at the check-in and cash register areas to help protect employees.

"I have two kids under two, so obviously safety is extremely important for me, and I feel very safe," said co-owner William Buffaloe Jr. "We’ve taken all the precautions. It’s super clean and every other lane as well as making sure that everyone wears a mask is really important."

The lawsuit regarding bowling alleys is still playing out in court, going through an appeals process currently.

For now, the Buffaloe family is just excited to welcome people back.

"We’re super excited. It’s been a long process," said Buffaloe Jr. "It’s been three or four months that we haven’t seen anyone in the building, so it’s just good to see people back in the building and enjoying themselves."
