Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Dick's and more have announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day 2020.

Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Dick's and more have announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day 2020.

Best Buy

On July 28, Best Buy shared on their website that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Customers will be able to shop on BestBuy.com and via the Best Buy app.
In addition, Best Buy will be offering some of their best deal earlier in the season, according to the company statement.
"To meet our customers’ changing lives this holiday, we’re enhancing the way we fulfill orders, from offering more convenient pickup options at our stores to making sure BestBuy.com orders arrive at the right time. We’re also going to start offering some of the hottest deals of the season earlier than ever, to make it even easier for our customers to check off their gift lists."

Target

Target announced on July 27 that stores would be closed on Thanksgiving Day 2020. In a statement on the Target website, the company indicated that they would be starting their holiday savings in October and offering them all season long.

Target shared the following holiday plans:

Closing our stores on Thanksgiving Day. When we say you can take advantage of great deals all season long, we really mean it. So kick back, relax and enjoy a long nap after you finish that last piece of Thanksgiving turkey. This season, you can count on getting extra-big savings without the extra-long lines, with plenty of opportunities to score the best deals on the hottest items both before and after November 26. Making 20,000 more products—including fresh and frozen groceries—available via our pickup and delivery services. This holiday season, we’re doubling down, making 20,000 more gifts, essentials and everything in between available via our popular same-day services. Yep, that means offering fresh and frozen grocery items via Order Pickup and Drive Up at 1,500 Target stores across the country by this fall.

Walmart and Sam's Club

On July 21, 2020, Walmart announced that all U.S. stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. Sam's Club stores will be closed, as well.

“We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones,” said John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart U.S. “We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”

According to a statement on the Walmart website on July 22, 2020, "Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations will operate normal hours on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Information for store and club hours on Friday, Nov. 27, will be shared at a later date."
In addition, Walmart will be paying out another special cash bonus to store, club, distribution center and fulfillment center employees. Full-time hourly associates will receive $300 and part-time hourly and temporary associates will receive $150. Drivers, Managers and Assistant Managers in stores, clubs, DCs, FCs and Health & Wellness will also receive bonuses.

“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” said John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart U.S. “To further appreciate their incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”

"U.S. associates (excluding salaried office associates) employed by the company as of July 31 will qualify, and it will pay out on Aug. 20. This is the third special bonus Walmart has given to associates in 2020, totaling $1.1 billion in bonuses so far this year, in addition to the regular incentive it provides to frontline associates on a quarterly basis," according to the press release.

Dick's Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy and Field & Stream

Dick's Sporting Goods announced on July 27 that all store locations and distribution centers would be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. Specialty stores Golf Galaxy and Field & Stream will also be closed. The statement also indicates, "All DICK'S Sporting Goods locations will operate on standard business hours on Wednesday, November 25. Information on holiday hours, which begin Friday, November 27, will be shared at a later date."

In addition, store and distribution center teammates will continue to receive a 15 percent pay premium through the end of the 2020.
