Good morning. I'm meteorologist, Elizabeth Gardner. It's a cold start out there this morning. We're seeing some clouds mixed with sunshine as the sun starts to come up this morning. It's going to be a breezy day today. We'll see gusts up to 30 MPH this afternoon. Those winds will really start to pick up late morning through the middle of the afternoon, steady out of the northwest at about 10 to 15, we take a look at the wind chill that will go along with that. It's not a dangerous wind chill, just an uncomfortable one. So at 10 a.m. it'll feel like 33 at noon. It will feel 38 and at two o'clock it'll feel like 42. So it's going to feel really cold. Our normal high temperature for January is 50 degrees. So it's a cold one. A little disturbance swinging by to the south and that's bringing a little bit of cloud cover into the area this morning that will continue to slide out of North Carolina. A little bit of a little bit of snow flurry activity up there in West Virginia. I think skiers excited. I'm sure temperatures colder than normal. You see the blue color contours. That's where we're below normal as we into the weekend though. We see the yellows and the oranges returning. So temperatures will be back up to above normal, but we'll also be back to a wetter pattern as well. Let's talk about the forecast for tonight. Much colder than what we're seeing this morning. This is what we'll see at about 7 a.m. tomorrow. 17 in Louisburg and Rocky Mount 20 in Wilson 19 in Durham. We head south 17 in Sanford 20 in Smithfield 22 Fayetteville. It's a good night. It'll be a hard freeze. Good night to maybe if you have older pipes to let the strip a little bit, you definitely want to bring your pets inside. It will be near our record 21 for the low for tomorrow, for tomorrow morning in Raleigh 18 is the previous record and in Fayetteville, just two degree difference 22 for the low and the previous record 20. So back in 1956 we were looking at our normal at 37. So these temperatures are well below normal. We climbed in your normal Friday and then back to above normal Saturday and Sunday, but we'll have some rain to go along with that. We're excited about our tower, Durham Raleigh Rocky Mount, that's going to be Wednesday night, tomorrow night at seven o'clock. Join us for that on TV, or in person. And Durham Rocky Mount, we're looking at some chilly temperatures at seven o'clock, temperatures will be in the upper thirties. We do, as I mentioned, have the potential for some showers as we get into the weekend starting on Friday. Saturday looks a little drier but Sunday and Monday, we could see some patchy rain. We'll continue to follow that timeline as we get closer.

So if you wanna raise your hand, take the first question from Dave, a hiring that rule, what was the mistakes and the hiring? Frank Wright? Um No, look, every coach that we've had here has been, um, has had contributions to this organization. Uh, Frank has contributions to the organization. Matt has contributions to the organizations. Um And, you know, quite frankly, if I had my brothers, I'd like to have a coach here for 20 years or 30 years. You know, if I can do that, um, you know, I'm not gonna get into the individual sort of things. Um, you guys can just speculate as to that. Uh, but, uh, you know, we just moved on yesterday and that's that we'll have, uh, followed by Dave. You guys are 3063 since you became owner. I think it's the second worst mark in the NFL. One of the worst marks in pro sports. You're about to hire your fourth head coach. Do you need to re re evaluate the way you do things in terms of a may be using a, a search firm in this hiring process, but also in how you manage day to day operations here. Um Look, things are constantly evolving. Um And they'll continue to evolve and, you know, trying to make things better is what you always try to do. Um Obviously, that record is not good enough. Um You know, there's no hiding it, it is what it is. Like everything in this sport, everything's left on the field. Everybody knows what it is every week. Um, that records that record and like I said, it's not good enough. We're gonna self reflect to make it better that day. Um, Dave you, you fired three coaches during the season. Um, you know, in the, in the sense of time you took over, do you feel like that is going to make it more difficult to get a quality head coach here? Uh, if you hire one, choose to hire one someone, uh, next year? No, I think that, I don't know. And again, I'm not going to get into it here, but I think that, um, you know, it's, there are different reasons why different things happened in each, each case. Um, you guys see, like I said, everything is out in the field, everything is known over time and I think people know it, the league knows it and people in the league know it. So I think that, um, if we were, if we everything was perfect, it wouldn't be the case and everything was good. It wouldn't be the case. So it's not as if it's not known out there reasons and, you know, that will be something for people to decide just generally speaking and not here but, and not that this matters because this is here. But, you know, in other aspects of my life, we have people for 2030 years that work for me, nobody ever leaves me. Uh We'll go, uh, Bill Orbit and do, uh when Matt was hired, you, you preach patience and it's kind of a year over year evaluation. Um Frank gets fired 11 weeks in to what extent was that due to a maybe a philosophical shift in how you view timelines for a rebuild or turnaround? Um Look, you know, as I said, there are reasons for each individual situation. I think you guys upon your own reflection into looking what happened to the season can, uh, you know, can understand that you're around town for those that are around town and can know the reasons. Um Again, I'm not gonna get into that particularly into those particulars, but I have, I do have patience. I'm just not my reputation away from this game is one for extreme patience. You know, there's no reason why that doesn't, you know, come here too. It does. Now that patience comes with good performance and things that you want to see progress being made on, on different aspects. Um And as you know, as I said, you know, I would like to have somebody here for 2030 years. I'd like to have somebody that would say eulogy at my funeral in 30 years. Ok. Maybe it's 40 years, I hope. But uh that's what I'd like to have next. We have uh Mike K and Eric spam you preached, uh you talked about, you talked about your patience preaching. So uh you, you talked about your patience. Uh When you moved on from Ron Rivera, you urged the fan base to have patience in terms of bringing in sustained, excellent, sustained success. What would your message to fans be now? Uh four years later that maybe feel like their patience hasn't been rewarded or, or there, it's not moving in the right direction right now, you know, um every week, you know, I watch these games and I've watched, you know, been around football for a long time and listen once upon a time, I was just a fan poor kid in Pittsburgh. That's what I was. So I know what it is to be a fan. And every day, every week we come in as part of us are fans. OK? In the corner, I sit in that box and we live and die with every play. Uh So I understand how the fans and I understand their frustration and I appreciate that. Um I can just say this, we will make it better. I'm not promising that's gonna happen tomorrow, but it may, ok. Football is a really interesting thing. What can happen in two or three year time span and what you're trying to do is have every single building block you can for, you know, an organization and in this organization, you know, while you don't see it, you know, because you see all you see is on the field but you guys may know it or may not know it. But behind the scene, there's been a lot of different changes in the building and a lot of things that have come become a lot better inside the building, you know, and just just how different people communicate, you know, health, you know, um strength room and, you know, and uh medical people, you know, um football operations, nutrition, all those things, all those building blocks underneath the surface have gotten better than when I stepped in the door. Listen, there, there they may be easier things to do, ok? And so we have to make sure that every, the other things that the fans can't see is better too. And also I would say that for, you know, uh engagement with pa past Panthers and that, you know, we should invite you to talk to people who, you know, legends that were here at the Panthers. So we have not gotten what, what the fans see every day, right? I understand their frustration. We share that frustration every Sunday with them, David in, in April, you said when you guys drafted Bryce, you said that he was a point guard style distributor and who could elevate the talent around him? My question to you is, do you feel like you've put enough around him for him to elevate? And with that said, how will that evaluation of the roster in the next six weeks factor into how you evaluate the front office look? Um, you know, there's a lot that goes into, you know, what the success on the field is every week when it's rosters on the scheme, how you practice a lot of things. And obviously, we can be better in all phases of that because the product on the field is just not good enough right now. It just isn't. And so we have to try to make every one of those faces better and whatever it takes to make it better. We're going to try to do there, Dave, you've obviously had a lot of changes, not just on the football side, but on the administrative side also with Charlotte FC. Uh and you just mentioned a few minutes ago that you're patient. So why do you think there is so much constant churn in this organization? And what can you do to stabilize it? Um That's, you know, that's an interesting question. Uh when you talk about that churn and then what the results are, you know, for that churn, you, you, what you call churn. Um, you know, every case is something is done here. There's not, it's not just done because it's done by idle wish. There's a reason and there's a purpose and there's a result and the things goes on when you talk about the, you know, different parts of this, um, this franchise or this building. If you, that you're referring to the business, you're a business guy. Um, you know, when we came here, there were 10 events a year in this stadium basically played plus one or two more, maybe. Um, we do, I think we did 42 events last year, um, in this field, not counting high school football that we brought back for the first time in the stadium and other things like that other type charity thing. So they're not even counting those sort of things, but major type events, um, brought soccer to Charlotte. The, the stands are full. Um, if you were at that last game with Miami, I mean, it was a joyful sort of experience when Messi came to town and, and I think the fans were elated and that sort of, you know, at that point and there have been highs, you know, and there's been highs and lows everywhere. Every game is a, there's some highs, there's some lows, gels, big kick. Um, you know, when Eric Reed was here for the first game. So it's highs and footballs and in other places. But when you look at, you know, in you, since you're asking a business question or answer a business question, when you look at us and how we have and how we do business. And now are we successful in pulling off all these different events we put here? Yeah, we are. And what we've done is really uh led to higher economic impact for Charlotte. And we look at the future for things like that as things that we might do in the future, whether they're in an entertainment venue that may do 80 more sort of small concerts, 3 to 5000 people that will bring people down there. We'll bring that here and we think we brought a lot of economic, uh economic development into the town. We have the numbers show it, I mean, you know, the numbers. Um So I don't think that when you look at the management team and you look at the stability of the management team. Now we finally, I think we, and, and, and listen, you're always trying to make it better, but I think we have a pretty good management team on the business side right now and we are pulling off pretty seamlessly. All these events. Thank you very much, Dave. Thank you. He said, all right, thank you. I appreciate it, Mr T. Uh, in terms of Bryce Young, I want to jump back on what Mike said earlier about Bryce. There's been a lot of reports over the last few days in the fact that that Frank wanted CJ Stroud, you tipped the scales and said you wanted Bryce Young. Is that true? And then also seeing what CJ Stroud is doing in Houston, did that make it? The comparison is even that much greater because of what you're seeing in Houston as opposed to here. Um, just the way our processes go here and I'll just after this really plain and all these and all those decisions, um, you know, whether it was the head coach, whether it was Bryce, I don't really vote on those decisions until the last piece. Ok. So those decisions are made by, you know, in the case of the f by the football people now look, everything that's right and everything that's wrong here ultimately is my fault. Ok? I have the final say, but as far as those decisions, whether it's Frank Wright or it's Bryce Young. Um, those decisions were made and in the case of Bryce, it was almost, I believe it was a unanimous decision and the coaches and the, and the scouts and very strong opinions at the time. Um, now it's been reported and we talked about it originally, we were gonna go to the number two pick and, and, and, uh, we thought we'd get CJ because we thought the Texas were gonna pick price and listen, we preferred Bryce. He was our number one pick. We had a lot of conviction. Um, but, uh, you know, in, in answer to your questions, it's just not the way the process was done, the process was done, the way the process was done. And again, even though if there was a process with five people in the room and four, and the way the votes came in, it was Frank was the first choice. I always could veto that choice. And even if it was price and the votes came in unanimously, in this particular case, I could have vetoed that choice. In both cases. I supported both choices. Ok. I'm just gonna say that I supported both choices. I supported the coaches, I supported the scouts their unanimous opinion. Um, and I supported, uh, Frank Reich. So, um, whatever is good, bad or in different is ultimately because the buck stops here and I take full responsibility for everything, but that's the way the process runs and just one last thing. And I know we, we, we're gonna go here as far as Bryce Young is concerned, I cannot say this, you know, for myself and I think everybody in this building would share this sentiment. We are totally confident in that pick. Ok? I think the people that made that pick first, um, you know, would be totally confident in that. Um, you know, some of them you could ask. Ok. Um, and I think the, um, and, and for me, I'm totally confident in agreeing with that pick Thank you. Thank you, Dave. You made a decision on Scott for dinner. All your first donuts. No, I'm back, I'm back in Aggie land. I'm back where I belong. Uh I'm back at a place where we considered home for four amazing years of this coaching journey. Um This is a special time to be the leader of this great football program from the moment I came down here back in 2018, I've been blown away by this place. Ok. Resourced as the premier football program in the country supported by the 12th man, the absolute best fan base in the country. Southeast Raleigh High School is under a Code Red lockdown after two students were stabbed.

A brief statement to make regarding today's incident I have with us, Chief Estella Patterson, chief of police for the Royal Police Department and Dr Robert Taylor, superintendent of public schools here at Wake County. At this point, I'll turn it over to Chief Patterson. Good afternoon today. At approximately 11 o'clock, a school resource officer here at Southeast Raleigh High School radioed in and reported that a juvenile had been stabbed, responding officers and school security quickly secured the scene and rendered first aid to two juvenile victims. Both victims were transported to an area hospital. Sadly one victim succumbed to his injuries. The second victim remains hospitalized with non life threatening injuries, both police and school personnel secured the building and are working and we are working very closely with Wake County public school officials to identify those directly involved in this altercation. One suspect is in custody at this time and we're happy to report that and there is no further threat to the school or to the community. Of course, this is an ongoing investigation and we will continue to provide information as it becomes available to us. We are asking for the public's patience as we work with Wake County Public School to reunite students with their parents. This is a very unfortunate incident that has occurred today. One that is very disturbing to us, but please note that the Raleigh Police Department is committed to partnering with the Wake County schools to make sure that our schools are safe for all our students. At this time. I will turn it over to superintendent Doctor Robert Taylor to share information that he has for you. Thank you, Chief Patterson. Good afternoon to you all. Chief Patterson is shed around 11 a.m. today, Southeast Raleigh High School went into our highest level lockdown after a report of a stabbing in the school's gym, law enforcement and wake county security on site immediately went into action to respond. We partnered with law enforcement throughout this investigation. We will proceed with a controlled dismissal that has started at 218 carpool. Students will be reunited with their parents at Walnut Creek amphitheater. Bus riders, walkers and student drivers will be dismissed via regular processes. We are working closely with school administration to determine plans for tomorrow and to identify every resource possible to support students and staff. More information about this will be shared with families later today, we are working with local and state law enforcement, our security team and other agencies to conduct a full investigation regarding this incident. We will be transparent in our findings and we will continue to work to find ways to strengthen the safety and the security of our schools. This is a tragedy for everyone involved in the days and weeks ahead. We will be supporting our students and staff as they process the incident and work through their grief. The district's crisis team will be available to offer students as much support as possible professionals from the district's employee support and wellness program will also be on hand to support the staff. I want to share my condolences with the family and the loved ones of the victim. As a parent, I can't imagine getting that call. I just cannot imagine that I offer my prayers for those affected. However, most importantly, I pledge my resolve, schools should be a safe haven for our students and staff. What happened here today is unacceptable as superintendent, I can tell you there is nothing more important than the well being and the safety of our students in the aftermath of today's tragedy. We will review all of our safety processes and protocols to determine what happened, what changes may need to be made. Following that review, I will work with our board to pursue any additional prudent actions that may prevent such actions of violence in the future. I want to extend my gratitude to the Raleigh Police Department Chief Patterson and school resource officer, Counsel for the quick response to this incident. I would also like to thank the staff and the students of East Southeast Raleigh High School as we work and continue to work through this incident. Thank you. The chief of the, what do you call the it looked like from video we've seen circulating quite a large incident. It appears that way we don't have a lot of information. Again. This is so preliminary as we're going through it. But I do agree with you just from the video that we've seen, it appears that there was a fight at the school. Are there any processes in place to ensure that weapons don't? And so we don't use metal detectors, but we do have processes and protocols where if there's a reason, reasonable suspicion that a student has a weapon, then we will search those students. But that is the extent of what we do at this point. We rely on other students to relay information to us. We look at reasonable suspicion at certain events such as sporting events. We may have more high level ways that we look at students who bring things into that arena. But this is what we do now is search if we have probable cause. No, no, I can't confirm that it is a student. Of course, he is a juvenile. So we can't give more information on that. Get to the juvenile. All right. Any other questions? All right.
