Prepare to talk to a lawyer
There are a few things to know and prepare for before you speak to a lawyer:
- Have a way to take notes during the call. That can be pen and paper, on your phone, tablet or computer. You will want to write down resources, phone numbers and next steps.
- Have a concise timeline of what happened, when and who is involved. Be able to describe your concern in detail, including names, dates and places.
- Be ready to explain what you've already done to resolve your concern or issue.
- Know what you want or need to happen with your case.
