Coronavirus testing coming to Wake County parks

With coronavirus numbers soaring across the state and in the Triangle, Wake County has teamed up with the city of Raleigh to make free testing more accessible.

Starting on Monday, three parks will have free drive-thru testing:

  • Green Road Park (4201 Green Road)
  • Barwell Road Park (5857 Barwell Park Drive)
  • Lions Park (516 Dennis Ave.)

"We're literally trying to make testing as pleasant and easy as a walk in the park," said Eugene Chalwe, Wake County's COVID-19 operations manager.

At each location, testing will be available Monday through Saturday. Testing on Mondays will be from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., while on Tuesday through Saturday, testing is open starting at 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Insurance is not required to be tested.

While an appointment is not necessary, certain locations may ask you to fill out an online registration form before arriving to help move testing quickly.

Officials said results will be returned within 24 to 48 hours.
