Skies clear as storms move out of NC
After a "very active" afternoon, storms had moved out of central North Carolina on Thursday night, meteorologist Mike Maze said.
Posted — UpdatedWake County and surrounding areas had been under three thunderstorm warnings throughout the day, but the last expired around 6:30 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm watch expired at 7:30 p.m.
The system that has been moving over North Carolina included strong winds and a report of a tornado in the eastern part of Caswell County.
A cold front moves in Thursday night, bringing some breeze and quieter skies.
Friday looks pleasant, as the official start of summer will have highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and mostly clear skies.
June 21 is known as the longest day of the year. The sun will rise in Raleigh around 6 a.m., and daylight will extend past 8:30 p.m.
